Global Security Pride Committee Launch Co-Sponsored by TSF

During the OSAC Annual Briefing Week, on November 15, 2022, the Global Security Pride Committee (GSPC) held its inaugural event, a High Securti-Tea at the Watermark Hotel in Tysons Corner, VA. TSF co-sponsored the event with Meta and Capital One.

With great attendance and energy, the first-ever GSPC event was envisioned and planned by a committee representing global security’s LGBTQIA+ community and allies, co-led by ISF Board member Nick Lovrien, Meta Chief Security Officer, and Arian Avila, Capital One Safety & Security Executive.

In his remarks that afternoon, Nick spoke of the importance of representation in global security and the value of allies. “You give a voice to those who don’t think they have a voice,” he said. “I am very thankful for the allies who continue to show up for the community to proactively build inclusion and give a voice to those who don’t have one or no longer feel like they have a right to have one.”

Nick and TSF are working diligently on a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiative, co-chaired by Nick and ISF Board Member Buffy Christie.  Read more about TSF DEI efforts.

At the GSPC event, Nick underscored the critical importance of DEI efforts on behalf of the security industry’s LGBTQIA+ community. “I personally know that representation and having a community matter,” he said. “I am very proud of the commitment TSF and OSAC have made in advancing and supporting DEI initiatives within the security community.”

Also giving remarks were Arian, Carlos Matus, OSAC Chairman and Pete Short, co-chair of the OSAC Council.

Thank you to all who attended the inaugural GSPC event. We look forward to the leadership of this group in the future.
