The 2025 SCEA Summit Sets the Stage for What’s Next

On May 1st, members of the Security Coalition for Engagement & Advancement (SCEA) came together in person for a focused day of strategy, conversation, and forward thinking. The 2025 SCEA Summit wasn’t just a checkpoint—it was a reset. It marked a clear shift from reflection to action, a moment to assess where we are and align on where we’re going.

From the start, there was a shared understanding in the room: the security workforce is changing, and the systems meant to support it must evolve as well. The Summit was built around that understanding. It brought professionals from across the field into one space, not just to share insights, but to engage in the work of shaping what comes next.

The day opened with an honest assessment of the current state of the profession. Participants surfaced what’s working, where the gaps are, and what professionals need most at each stage of their career. As conversations deepened, common themes began to emerge—calls for more visible career pathways, more intentional mentorship, and skills development that reflects the real demands of today’s workforce.

In the afternoon, those ideas moved from discussion to design. Small groups worked to define tangible priorities and recommend actions. These sessions weren’t just brainstorming exercises; they laid the foundation for the next phase of SCEA’s work. To carry that work forward, newly designated committees were formed, led by a governance committee made up of group chairs and supported by TSF, with a plan to meet regularly and drive momentum.

By the end of the day, it was clear that the summit had sharpened SCEA’s mission and clarified its role in the industry. Rather than simply bringing people together, SCEA is poised to help move the profession forward. Its next chapter will focus on supporting professionals through pivotal career moments—from early entry to public sector transitions to leadership development.

In the months ahead, SCEA will begin rolling out a strategic roadmap shaped by the ideas and priorities surfaced during the Summit. That work will include the development of new tools and programming—from short-form video content and leadership conversations to practical resources that help people grow in their roles and navigate what’s next.

Opportunities for involvement will also expand. A formal call for volunteers will go out as SCEA continues to build spaces for collaboration, mentorship, and skill-building across the community.

None of this would be possible without the people behind it. Special thanks to Karen Frank and Caroline Kim for their expert facilitation, and to every attendee who showed up with purpose, insight, and commitment to the future of the field.

This is just the beginning of what’s next for SCEA, and we’re looking forward to sharing more soon.
