Supporting the Security Community for a Safer World

Our mission: The International Security Foundation (ISF) helps protect United States citizens and interests at home and abroad through education, information sharing and funding security-related organizations.

Our vision: A safer and more secure world for U.S. citizens and interests

Founded in 2011 by private-sector members of the Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC), the U.S. Department of State’s public-private partnership, the nonprofit ISF supports the following through the generosity of individuals, corporations, and organizations. In 2023, the nonprofit Domestic Security Partnership, which supports the Domestic Security Alliance Council  (DSAC), merged with the ISF.

Our Impact

The ISF’s impact stretches across the country, globe and multiple sectors. We’ve helped to transform the U.S. security industry by enhancing education, security information exchange programs, symposia, and networking programs. We raise funds from the private sector to enhance OSAC’s and DSAC’s vital public-private partnerships to work collaboratively to confront global terrorism, crime and natural disasters. Through the ISF Grants program, we support smaller U.S. nonprofits in the security community.

Our History

We were founded in 2011 as an educational nonprofit, created by several members of the OSAC Council. It was a new idea: To establish an independent nonprofit to support OSAC’s work and better serve the private-public security partnership with enhanced information-sharing, benchmarking and educational programs. In 2023, the ISF merged with the nonprofit Domestic Security Partnership (DSP) and began to support the Domestic Security Alliance Council’s (DSAC) programs.

Supporting DSAC and OSAC

Our partnerships with the U.S. Department of State’s Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) and the Domestic Security Alliance Council (DSAC) in collaboration with the FBI and Department of Homeland Security are the foundation of our mission. The visionary security leaders in the private sector who founded DSAC and OSAC, respectively, understood that outside funding was critical to creating a much-needed mechanism for public and private sectors to work collaboratively to confront terrorism, crime and natural disasters – at home and abroad.

Donors may choose to support either DSAC or OSAC or make an unrestricted gift. Your generosity enhances these groundbreaking public-private security partnerships and ensures that DSAC and OSAC can offer – free of charge to their members – exceptional educational and security-information exchange programs.
