Dave Komendat Becomes TSF Board President

On January 1, 2024, Dave Komendat became President of The Security Foundation. A TSF Board member since 2015, Dave is highly respected in the security community for his 36-year career at The Boeing Company – he retired in 2022 as Boeing’s Vice President and Chief Security Officer –and his vast volunteer leadership of the industry.

Dave has served as TSF Board Vice President, and his volunteer leadership within security as:

  • Current president, Hostage US
  • Former Council member, Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC)
  • Past co-chairman, Domestic Security Alliance Council (DSAC)
  • Past president, International Security Management Association

“Dave’s many skills and balanced, collaborative approach to solving challenges and shaping strategy have served and will serve TSF well as we enter an exciting new chapter in our 13-year history,” says Peggy O’Neill, TSF Executive Director. “Rebranding from the International Security Foundation to The Security Foundation is an important evolution in our trusted approach of unbiased collaboration and unmatched cooperation as an impartial convener of public-private partnerships. Dave is an able, forward-thinking leader to be at the helm of new opportunities.”

Dave has been key to several TSF’s strategic planning sessions and initiatives. Most notably, he was at the center of last February’s TSF merger with the former Domestic Security Partnership, which expanded TSF’s portfolio to include support for domestic security. In 2018, FBI Director Christopher Wray awarded the Director’s Award for Exceptional Public Service to Dave for his DSAC leadership.

“Like Rich [Davis, past TSF Board President] before him, Dave has the innate ability to innovate, collaborate and champion all voices to guide TSF in our vision to enable a safer, more secure, more connected world for U.S. citizens and interests at home and abroad,” she continues.

Congratulations, Dave!
