Building a Safer Future Together: The Power of Public-Private Partnerships
The Security Foundation (TSF) is a trusted convener of public-private partnerships dedicated to enhancing the safety and security of U.S. citizens and interests, both domestically and abroad.
Acting as a vital link between public and private organizations, TSF:
- facilitates collaboration,
- drives funding, and
- fosters cooperation to address critical security challenges.
This role is an important piece of the impact that TSF has had historically and the potential impact in the future, so understanding the role of PPPs is vital.
THE ROLE OF PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS
Public-private partnerships (PPPs) combine the resources and authority of government with the innovation and efficiency of private companies to tackle complex security challenges. By leveraging the strengths of both sectors, PPPs provide effective solutions for national defense, terrorism, natural disasters, cyber threats, and emergency responses—ensuring the protection of citizens and national interests.
OSAC and DSAC are key examples of PPPs in action. These programs create platforms for information sharing and networking, enabling real-time collaboration between government agencies and private industry. OSAC focuses on safeguarding U.S. citizens and interests overseas, while DSAC enhances domestic security through partnerships with the FBI and DHS.
Richard Puckett, Vice President and Chief Security Officer at Boeing, affirms the value of these partnerships, stating, “It is through these key relationships we are better advised, better informed, and ultimately able to make effective safety and risk management decisions for our people, our customers, and our company.”
Since inception, TSF has funded more than 575 OSAC events and 60 DSAC events, further supporting public-private collaboration on critical security issues.
TSF’s Impact on U.S. Security
Since 2011, TSF has been instrumental in advancing public-private partnerships that strengthen U.S. security globally. The Security Foundation:
- funds critical security programming,
- supports security-related nonprofits,
- and continuously launches new initiatives to expand the reach and effectiveness of the security industry.
To date, TSF has funded over 660 security events worldwide, fostering collaboration and information sharing between public and private sectors. This includes support for OSAC Country Chapters and Common Interest Committees, DSAC events, and OSAC’s Annual Briefing and DSAC’s Annual Meeting.
TSF’s Nonprofit Grants Program, launched in 2020, extends our impact by providing financial support to smaller U.S. nonprofits, ensuring that even smaller players in the security sector can contribute to national safety. Since inception, the TSF Nonprofit Grants have supported organizations like Hostage US, Diplomatic Security Foundation, and Girl Security, further deepening its commitment to fostering a safer world.
How to Support TSF
There are several ways to contribute to TSF’s mission of enhancing the security of U.S. citizens and interests:
- Make a Donation: Tax-deductible donations from individuals, corporations, and organizations fund public-private security partnerships and related nonprofits. These contributions ensure the continuation of programs that protect against terrorism, crime, and natural disasters.
